Unsuccessful people constantly lie to themselves-about their own lives. I once thought that people who were habitually dishonest couldn’t be successful. Sadly, I’ve learned better. It’s possible to succeed, at least financially, while being totally dishonest with others. But it is absolutely impossible for people to be dishonest with themselves-about where they are in life, what their prospects are for achieving their goals and where they fall short-and still go forward.

失敗者總是欺騙――不承認現實生活。我曾一度認為那些習慣性不誠實的人不可能成功。很遺憾，現在我深切的體會到，即使一個人對他人沒有一點真誠，他也是有可能成功的--至少在經濟方面他是有這個可能的;但是那些自欺的人卻是絕對不可能成功的――他們不知道自己在生活的旅途中處于何方，不清楚實現目標的機會何在，認識不到自己的缺陷何在――認識不到這一點卻還盲目前行。
